Manifold Heating requirements. The square section of the heating element provides optimum heat exchange together with ease in its installation. It is necessary to create a square section groove for fixing the heaters to ensure better conductivity.
Mold heaters are custom made using 6 mm, 7 mm, or 8 mm diameter incoloy heating elements with threaded stud or lead wire termination. These heaters are also available in different square & flat profile. Example 6×6 mm, 7×7 mm, 8×8 mm.
Precise forming of the heater is required for it to seat properly into the milled slot in the mold. To insure this fit, we normally use a template as an inspection of the milled slot in a plastic or aluminum plate, customer supplied or manufactured by HITCO’S.
When tubular heating elements are used in a milled slot any gaps between the element and the plate can cause hot spots on the elements. Heat transfer cement is used to fill these air gaps, permitting the heaters to run cooler thus maximizing its life expectancy. Cement is water soluble and can be applied with a putty knife or trowel and can be used in temperatures up to 1205°F (650°C).

Hitco’s specially designed Circulation Heaters are used where transitional heating is required while maintaining the flow rate.
